The University of Hawaii at Mānoa

Tailor-made for the newly renovated Provost’s Office, this trio of 16” x 20” paintings represents the student journey and UH Mānoa’s unique sense of place. I drew inspiration for Plant, Cultivate, and Harvest from the Ka Papa Loʻi ʻo Kānewai as well as my perspective as a second generation UH Mānoa alumna.

Contributions from many hands nurture huli (stem cuttings) into mature kalo, which can be used for nourishment or replanting. Similarly, the college experience provides space for students to grow, in large part due to investment from faculty and staff and support from loved ones. With sharpened skills, knowledge and fortitude, graduates can impact their communities in Hawaiʻi and beyond, blessing current and future generations.
